Club Meeting – October 27, 2016
Kiwanis Family Month Preview
November is Kiwanis Family Month! We’ve invited our sponsored service leadership programs to present during our meetings this month. We also have new marketing resources about each of our programs that can be shared with prospective members, friends, and school administrators.
Club Meeting – November 3, 2016
Club Business Meeting
During this meeting, we had a number of announcements, discussions, and some club business to accomplish. Key Club at Manor New Tech High School has selected a member to attend Key Leader on the weekend of November 11. Remember, our speaker honorariums fund these scholarships for leadership training for aspiring young leaders of our Key Clubs.
We will have two pecan sales this season! Thanksgiving orders are due by Friday, November 11 (distribution on November 17), and Christmas orders are due by Thursday, December 8 (distribution on December 15).
Other Actions:
- William Assamoi was approved to fill the vacancy of the2-year director position
- Ruth Ann Cossey was approved to fill the vacancy of the 1-year director position
- The club approved a change in club policy to change the terms of the president, president-elect, immediate past president, and secretary-treasurer to a 2-year term.
Service: Halloween Spooktacular – October 28, 2016
This past Friday, October 28th, members of our club volunteered at the Halloween Spooktacular at Dottie Jordan Recreation Center. We assisted in setup and manned the disc golf booth. For each disc that the kids got in, they got two candies. We had a great time connecting with the community and entertaining the neighborhood kids who came out to enjoy the variety of activities!

We’re an organization of volunteers serving the community and children of greater Austin, Texas.
As we commemorate this Martin Luther King Jr Day, we’re grateful to our Cedar Park and Leander community supporters, including our newest one this year, @serenitea_cup, for their participation in our flag program!
Donations from the program support our sponsored Key Clubs and service projects across the area.

We were thrilled to have Audrey from @fostervillageaustin join us at our meeting last night to tell us about the innovate work they’re doing in Austin and across the country to support families and children in the foster care system. We’re looking forward to opportunities to get involved!
In a surprise during our conversation, we learned that she discovered her love of service when she was the charter club president of @mnthskeyclub!
We also had a late presentation to Howard Friedman as our outstanding new member for the 2024-25 year! Since joining he’s been a regular at meetings, volunteers with us at the Ronald McDonald House, and at the butterfly festival at Winn.

Grateful for the @thejuniorleagueofaustin letting us come out and help sort coats for kids with other amazing organizations, we were able to sort over 3000+ coats for kids! They will hand out over 30k coats back to our community so we are happy to play a small part in that process!
