Playground Improvements for Mary Bailey Head Start Center
Over the course of two weekends, members of the club gathered to construct and install new sensory boards for the Mary Bailey Head Start Center in Georgetown.
The project was organized by Adrian Thompson who had worked with the center before. A sensory board is an interactive learning and development tool for young children. By having a variety of tools, objects, and textures to play with, kids can experience the different sounds that objects make, attain tactile skills, and develop language as teachers point out the names of objects. A sensory board that was previously installed at the playground was destroyed in an accident a few years ago.
Members installed four different sensory boards as well as a new steel drum at the playground. Time was also spent cleaning up the grounds of the facility.
We’re an organization of volunteers serving the community and children of greater Austin, Texas.

Grateful for the @thejuniorleagueofaustin letting us come out and help sort coats for kids with other amazing organizations, we were able to sort over 3000+ coats for kids! They will hand out over 30k coats back to our community so we are happy to play a small part in that process!
Proud of our Kiwanis Club of Silicon Hills members for teaming up with @down_home_ranch to prepare 400+ holiday blooms for delivery. Community service fuels us! ❤️ #kiwanis#siliconhills#DownHomeRanch... See MoreSee Less
